When you publish with IntechOpen Journals, you become part of a community that will support you and enable you to share research with a relevant global audience. Together we maximise the impact, visibility and outreach of your research to broader communities of scientists and researchers all over the world.
Data Sharing and Availability
In line with the Open Science principles, IntechOpen Journals supports research transparency at various stages including openly sharing code and data in published manuscripts. Authors are encouraged to include all available data that supports the research findings and their replication through:
- Depositing the data in appropriate data repository
- Including data in their supplementary files
- Citing all datasets in their study (with DOI inclusions)
- Including data management plans
All data should be reported in compliance with local/national legislation and ethical reporting. Special care should be devoted to ensuring that sharing the data from studies with human participants complies with the local data protection laws, that is shared in accordance with participant consent, and that it does not compromise participant privacy.
All manuscripts submitting to IntechOpen Journals should contain Data Availability Statement, regardless whether the authors have made the source data available or not. If the data is available, the Data Availability Statement should contain some form of persistent identifier for all data, including a name of the repository, digital object identifier (DOI), accession numbers or codes, and other.
The authors should list any legal, ethical or privacy issues that prevent them from opening and sharing their data in the Data Availability Statement.
Authors whose data are under mandates for submission to public repositories should follow the guidelines for choosing an appropriate repository. The submitting data should follow the FAIR principles - be findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.
Figshare Data Repository
IntechOpen offers authors the integrated workflow for submitting their source data in figshare repository upon the manuscript submission.
Should the authors choose to deposit their data to figshare via this option, they need to acknowledge that:
- their data is prepared and shared in accordance with local/national legislation and ethical reporting
- they own the copyright and/or the permission to publish the data
- they agree that the data is to be published under the CC BY licence and with associated DOI number, should the manuscript successfully pass the review process
- they comply with the figshare Terms and Privacy policy
